We are a group of Veterans, mostly Vietnam Veterans, who meet weekly to provide support to one another. We want to extend our invitation to Veterans of all ages to join our group regardless of your MOS or units in which you served. We can provide support to you as a Veteran who may be struggling with recurring images and troubling thoughts from when you served and would rather not have in your daily life. Our members understand you, and are supportive and welcoming and absolutely non-judgmental. Let us listen to you.
We have been a group for over ten years and when we lost access to the building where we would meet, we found places to meet; it is that important to us. We now meet every Tuesday morning 10:00-11:30 am at the Greenland Veterans building at 376 Portsmouth Avenue, Greenland. The building provides privacy to continue our discussions, many of which we’ve never shared outside of our group. We owe our huge thanks to Frank Hansler and the Greenland Veterans Association that made it happen. Thanks Frank, and thank you to the Association!
After our previous therapist retired, we continued running the group on our own. Two months ago, Alissa Dillon, a licensed therapist who specializes in treating grief and trauma, joined our group as the group facilitator. In addition to agreeing to be our group leader, Mrs. Dillon provides free one-on-one trauma therapy to any Military member, Veteran or First Responder with her non-profit organization, Traumatic Stress Therapy Services. If you are not interested in our group, we implore you to meet with her for free private treatment.
